Google Glass
detects violating vehicles
In a video recorded during Giex 2014, Maher Shirah, Strat-
egy Excellence Manager at Dubai Roads and Transport Au-
thority (RTA) presented the first Google Glass based app in
the region. The app can detect violating cars through their
plates.
By looking at a car plate, RTA’s inspectors can be informed
whether the car bears any violations or tickets. The Glass
can double the fine if needed.
Dubai Police had announced its use of Google Glass to de-
tect violating drivers as well as detect cars of the wanted.
The Google Glass takes pictures of vio-
lating drivers through cameras installed
on the Glass and display the picture on
a screen that transmits all details re-
lated to accidents, crises and disasters
to the Command and Control Centre in
addition to apps of police operations.
