‘MyID’ has 34,000 registered users
34,000 users registered in the “MyID” service offered by the
Dubai mGovernment allowing users a single sign-on to govern-
ment services in the emirate that are integrated with the na-
tional ID card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority. These
users can easily access hundreds of services offered by the 10
government entities currently part of the service.
94 percent of Emirati employees back
flexible working hours
94 per cent of UAE office workers prefer to be
given the freedom to work flexibly outside of the
office, citing this would help them be more produc-
tive and efficient. In contrast, according to a sur-
vey released by Citrix, a company providing mo-
bile workspaces, only 23 per cent of businesses,
which were surveyed in the UAE, fully encourage
and enable employees to work from anywhere,
using any device.
Twitter monthly active users hit
284 million
Results of Twitter’s third quarter 2014 report
showed that the Average Monthly Active Us-
ers were 284 million, an increase of 23%
year-over-year. Average mobile users rep-
resented around 80% of total figure.
40 percent of internet users experience
online harassment
According to a Pew Research Internet Project study,
40% of all adult internet users experienced varying
degrees of online harassment, ranging from name-
calling to sexual harassment. Pew study said that
many internet users know that harassment is a com-
mon part of online life. While men were more likely to
experience online abuse, women seemed to experi-
ence more of the sexual harassment and stalking.
24 percent of PC users in UAE fear webcam
According to a study conducted by Kaspersky Lab and B2B Interna-
tional, 24% of users cover up their webcams due to spying fears. The
study found that 22 percent of users in UAE are completely unaware that
they could be watched via a webcam. Only 50 percent of respondents
are fully aware of this threat and admit that the possibility makes them
feel uncomfortable.
