Smart pharmacy
in 90 minutes
Sanad,
made in the UAE
In a video posted on YouTube, the Health
Authority displayed the smart pharmacy
services namely a robot that acts like a
pharmacist.
The robot receives the prescription elec-
tronically and collects the relevant medi-
cines from the pharmacy without human
intervention. The robot then hands the
medications to the pharmacist who in
turn hands them to the patient. The smart
pharmacy should completely eliminate hu-
man error.
It will also reduce waiting time to get the
medicines to less than ten seconds and
ensure that no errors occur in releasing
the medicines. It also saves time and ef-
fort for both the patients and pharmacists.
This service will enhance competitiveness
and sustainability for the government
health sector by employing smart technol-
ogy to serve patients. It will also increase
the efficiency and effectiveness of health
operations and will achieve quality, safety,
accurate information and fast response to
customers’ needs.
During participation in GITEX 2014, Dubai
Police presented, through a video, its
drone made in Dubai labelled “Sanad”.
The drone is specifically designed for res-
cue operations and other services related
to civil defence. It can also take pictures of
stadiums in case of chaos.
The drone “Sanad” has a 2.7 meter diam-
eter. It can fly at a height of one to one and
a half kilometre and weighs 60 kilograms.
It can pull a person up and can drop four
lifejackets. It can take live footage up to
forty minutes continuously. It features a
high-definition camera that can rotate
360 degrees. It can transmit all the data
it collects real-time. It can be controlled
remotely. It has a radio transmitter that is
also used to control the drone and stores
data. It also features a great ability for fly-
ing balance.
Sanad can fly above various roads and
can fully scan areas up to five kilometres.
It sustains weather changes. Moreover, it
is easily operated and can be developed
in the future to enable it to carry weights
up to 100 kilograms for longer times.
