Experts observed the possibility of benefit-
ing from methods used by video games de-
velopers to stimulate players to do their best
to achieve the best results possible and out-
perform their competitors.
Companies like the German programming
giant SAP found that expertise in video
games can be utilized in the real business
world, which is increasingly becoming a
trend after companies realized that comput-
er gaming skills developed by employees
can be used in business situations.
It is known that games motivate players by
rewarding them with points or badges once
they accomplish the desired tasks. The very
same motivators can be used by companies
to encourage their employees to exert fur-
ther efforts where experts call these motiva-
tors as “Intrinsic motivators”.

Digital Universe to grow 600
percent in MENA region by 2020
The latest study by EMC Corporation en-
titled “ “Digital Universe of Opportunities”
projected the digital data volume in the
Middle East and North Africa (MENA) re-
gion to grow from 249 exabytes in 2014
to reach 1,835 exabytes by 2020, an in-
crease of over 600%.
According to the study, the emerging
markets in countries of the MENA region,
Brazil, China, India, Mexico, and Russia
will surpass the mature markets of Ger-
many, Japan and the United States by
2017. In 2013, mature markets produced
60% of data in the digital universe.
The study stated that the MENA region
data growth contribution of the digital
universe will increase to 4.2 percent in
2020 from 3.8 percent in 2013.
The EMC’s study found that billions of
connected devices equipped with unique
identifiers and the ability to automatically
record, report and receive data, currently
represent 2% of the MENA’s data and is
expected to contribute to over 8% of the
MENA data by 2020 creating new sourc-
es of value for businesses in the region.
