The Ministry of Education is working on
transforming all its services offered to the
public to smart services by the end of 2015.
This comes in line with the Ministry’s policy
aiming towards smart transition in line with
the visions, aspirations and approach of
the state in this regard.
The Bawabaty and Madaris (in English, My
Gateway and Schools respectively) ser-
vices ranked the most used and popular
smart services by the public. The Ministry
is also seeking to create an active platform
to act as the portal through which it can of-
fer its smart services to the largest number
of people.
Dubai Municipality is working on develop-
ing the field inspector app for official re-
lease by mid-2015.
The Dubai Municipality will supply all its
inspectors with Google Glass that en-
ables them to carry out multiple tasks ef-
ficiently while saving time and effort every
day. With the new app, there will not be a
need for daily meetings at the inspectors’
centres to distribute assignments, list of
sites to be visited and daily hardcopy re-
ports. The app includes full information
that sets the daily schedule for each in-
spector and allows them to enter their as-
sessments using audio-visual and video
means.
The Dubai Municipality is expected to
start applying the smart inspector app in
the food department by monitoring and
assessing various restaurants in Dubai
followed by the building department. The
initiative shall then be employed by the
rest of the Municipality divisions.
The smart glass designed for onsite in-
spection for Dubai Municipality will en-
able filming the onsite tour so that super-
visors may review it later. The app will
connect the field employees with inspec-
tion assignments and will enable them to
work from office or even car and conduct
all operations throughout the entire onsite
inspection.
Dubai Health Authority added a new service
to its array of available smart service name-
ly the distance medical treatment service at
all preliminary healthcare centres to exam-
ine the effect of diabetes on the retina.
The Dubai Health Authority provided 18
high-tech digital cameras at all affiliated
preliminary healthcare centres and hospi-
tals. The aim is to have early detection of
the complications of diabetes and its ef-
fect on the retina for registered patients at
various health centers of the Authority. It is
worth mentioning that there are over 9,000
registered diabetes patients.
This service saves time and effort for pa-
tients as tests pertaining to the retina are
carried out at the nearest health centre to
the patient though digital cameras connect-
ed to Dubai Hospital.
