On his Twitter account HH Sheikh
Mohammed @HHShkMohd, His
Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President,
Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said,
“Our flag represents unity, and the union
of our hearts. It is the source of our pride
and symbol of respect for our nation. We
renew our pledge to serve our country and
raise our flag high and proud among the
nations of the world”.
His Highness added on his Twitter ac-
count saying, “Brother and sisters, today,
we celebrate the Flag Day, God willing, we
will raise it on our departments, organiza-
tions and houses, we will implant it in the
hearts of our generations, we will all raise
the flag together unitedly on the Flag Day
at 12 noon. Let’s send one message, that
we are not Emirates, we are the United
Arab Emirates”.
He continued, “I tell our organizations, we
want our flag raised high on our buildings
and I tell my fellow citizens, we want it
to be raised high on our homes. Let’s all
share these moments”.
His Highness stressed, “Our flag shall re-
main strong and proud, following the pride
and strength of the Emirates people. We
ask Allah to protect our country, flag and
president”.
Through the #FlagDay hashtag, users took
to Twitter to express how the UAE flag em-
bodies the nation, the people and the story
of loyalty and belonging to the union state.
It is considered a symbol of national iden-
tity. Their hearts dance in joy when they
see it flying high and proud in the skies of
the Emirates and during international and
national events. They stress that it is the
title of dignity and pride and it tells the story
of a nation and loyalty of the people.
Twitterers continued tweeting, “Each time I
see the flag of my country flying abroad, I
stand looking and contemplating its great-
ness and the greatness of this country, its
leaders and people. May Allah protect and
bless my country”.
They added: The UAE flag is a symbol of
glory, pride and greatness of the nation.
The flag is considered one of the national
symbols of an independent country as well
as its sovereignty, title and banner rep-
resenting it at all places and times. The
flag is also closely related to a country’s
national anthem. It flies while the national
anthem is playing in the background, ren-
dering them both all due respect and ap-
preciation from the people of the country,
those people who come from different
social, educational and financial back-
grounds but represented under their flag
with no distinction and no exception.
