1.5 billion times. Apple iTunes was the
most commonly visited apps website,
followed by Nokia OVI, then Samsung
Apps, Blackberry App World and last
Android Applications.
Tracking social networking websites,
the report found that UAE smart-
phone and fixed internet users made
13.7 billion visits to these websites,
with visits to Facebook accounting
for 91 percent of the total, followed by
Twitter with eight per cent, Maktoob 1
percent, then LinkedIn and MySpace.
Commenting on the report, H.E. Mo-
hamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director
General of TRA said: “The report pro-
vides results that are of interest both
to the public and the manufactur-
ers who supply the communications
technology that everyone depends
on. Providing very distinct analysis
of consumer adoption, the research
reflects the UAE’s dynamic ecosys

tem in which both feature phones and
Smartphones are driving sustained
telecommunications sector growth.”
Al Ghanim added: “This report falls
in line with TRA’s quest to inform the
public on the current state of the tele-
communications sector and monitor
its future development. Creating open
and clear channels of communica-
tion with the public through research
is a core objective of the TRA as we
