Abu Dhabi Business Center of the Abu
Dhabi Department of Economic Devel-
opment has launched smart applica-
tions offering customers 8 license-re-
lated services through mobile phones.
The smart services include request
-
ing information on starting a busi-
ness, trade license renewal, payment
of fines and application fees, required
documents, business directory and the
center’s branches across Abu Dhabi.
The apps are available on Android and
Apple iOS, allowing customers to use
them through smartphones and eLink
with over 17 federal and local govern-
ment entities concerned with business
set-up approvals in Abu Dhabi.
With this service, Abu Dhabi Depart-
ment of Economic Development seeks
to ensure that Abu Dhabi Business
Center adopts all technology-based
facilities and mechanisms that help
make a quantum leap in the services
provided to its customers and busi-
nesses. This is in line with Abu Dhabi’s
eStrategy led by Abu Dhabi Systems
and Information Center.
Start A Business
The app’s ‘Start A Business’ service
provides information on all require
-
ments, documents and fees related to
trade license issuance through the de-
partment and other involved govern-
ment entities. It also allows details on
terms and conditions related to starting
a business in the Emirate. The service,
known as ‘click’, is also available on
Abu Dhabi eGovernment portal and is
the most commonly used service.
Renew your license in 3 steps
License renewal is another service pro-
vided by the smart app, and it accounts
for 40 percent of the total number of
license-related applications carried out
by Abu Dhabi Business Center. The
service can be availed through mobile
phones in 3 steps, those being: enter
license number, verify data and attach
required documents.
The service doesn’t require a cus
-
tomer to create an account on the de-
partment’s website. The Center’s staff
receive the application, verify data and
send the approval within 24 hours.
Applicant will receive email and SMS
confirming that transaction is complete
and payment can be done.
Pay your fines from home
The third service available through the
app is ‘fine payment’, which can also
be done through 3 steps. First, a user
needs to enter license number, then
make payment by credit card and final
-
ly receive payment voucher via email
or SMS.
Reserve your trade name
The fifth service available through the
app is ‘trade name registration’ which
accounts for 10% of the total trade
license related transactions in Abu
Dhabi. The service enables customers
to search for available trade names in
Arabic and English, select one name
and request approval to reserve it. Ap
-
plicants should complete their trans-
actions within 24 hours.
Request Information in Seconds
The sixth service allows enquiries on
requirements, documents and fees
related to amendment and renewal of
a trade license by simply entering the
license number and selecting transac-
tion type. The requested information
will be, then, sent to the requester’s
email.
Business Directory
The smart app provides, as well, a
business directory that enables users
to enquire about a specific trade name
or activity and obtain information on
the website, address and contact num-
ber related to the company in search
as well as its location in Abu Dhabi
through an interactive map.
Location Map
Through the smart app, users can ob-
tain full information on the branches of
Abu Dhabi Business Center all around
Abu Dhabi. Information is displayed on
an interactive map that shows location,
contact numbers and email address.
Seeking to promote usage of the smart
applications, Abu Dhabi Department of
Economic Development offered a dis-
count of 10 percent on transactions
carried out through the apps. This will
help encourage customers to use such
important initiatives that are part of a
comprehensive plan to develop and
improve services related trade license
issuance.
