The UAE has won membership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
Council for the third time in a row. The elections witnessed strong competition from
18 countries on 13 memberships reserved for the Asia region out of 48 memberships
constituting the ITU Council. Once again, the victory reflected the UAE’s position, influ-
ence, popularity and excellence on the international stage and in the ICT sector.
This victory stands as testament to the UAE’s stature and good reputation that it ac-
quired through communication, collaboration and interaction with the institutions and
agencies of the International community. This victory is the result of its firm stances,
sharp vision and continuous endeavors towards international understanding, its contri-
butions in development and modernization initiatives and its keenness on being at the
top always.
