What is the Ministry’s strategy in man-
aging smart services?
The Ministry drafted a strategy to manage
smart services. It adopted the best inter-
national practices and created a call cen-
ter to monitor performance and pinpoint
strong and weak points.
The center receives inquiries and reports
and provides solutions according to pro-
fessional regulations. It also monitors the
safety of services infrastructure, antici-
pates IT challenges and take preventive
measures, all to boost customers’ trust in
the quality of services.
After launching the electronic and
smart services, did the Ministry’s team
face any gaps in smart apps?
The Ministry is keen on keeping pace with
IT developments and upgrading smart
apps to make its services accessible to
everyone. Therefore, it created a smart
apps center equipped with professionals
and experts who can receive and answer
inquiries from the public through the call
center.
The technical support team seeks to cre-
ate solutions to secure our apps against
possible hacking attempts by using ad-
vanced frameworks for information secu-
rity and smart applications.
To what extent have e-services and
smart services developed?
The progress is endless. The development
and improvement of services is ongoing in
an age where there is a continuous need
for scientific innovations and technological
advancements. solutions to put in place
useful plans.
To what extent has the Ministry pro-
tected its services against hacking?
There is a growing fear of privacy inva-
sion and data security attacks, that’s why
the Ministry focuses on data protection by
adopting anti-risk information security and
protection strategies.
Security measures cover all develop-
ment stages until customers can use and
access such services. Such measures
include monitoring and managing secu-
rity gaps that may impact government
websites and services, information secu-
rity risk management through systematic
tests, technical tests and human efficiency
tests.
These measures also include the pro-
tection and encoding of data transferred
through terminal devices and servers,
ensuring that smart devices do not allow
offline transactions and do not store trans-
action data to be used later and keep re-
cords of unsuccessful login attempts and
report unusual use patterns.
How secure are the Ministry’s e-servic-
es and smart services?
They are 100% secure.
Are the Ministry’s efforts to support
the mGov initiative limited to providing
smart apps only?
Of course not. The MOI has opened new
venues of innovation. Sheikh Saif bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Inte-
rior and Deputy Prime Minister gave his
instructions to launch the MOI’s annual
award for smartphone apps. The award
will contribute in providing a suitable envi-
ronment for generating creative ideas and
develop services in our dear nation.
The award embodies the Ministry’s keen-
ness on building strategic partnerships
with academic institutions to attract and
sponsor creative ideas of talented stu-
dents as well as encourage their innova-
tion.
Are the Ministry’s employees from
among nationals only?
The MOI focuses on hiring nationals, thus
doubling efforts towards optimal strategic
planning in this regard. The MOI relies on
nationals who will contribute in achieving
the goals of sustainable development for
the UAE.
