In line with the eGovernment initiative, the
Knowledge and Human Development Au-
thority (KHDA) has introduced a new smart
portal for higher education services. The por-
tal will allow higher education institutions at
free zones to apply for new, renew or amend
education permits, in addition to certificates
attestation service.
KHDA has introduced a package of updates
on its eServices system, making communi-
cation with education providers much easier.
Updates on the e-system, which receives
900 thousand applications a year, included
additional features for private schools and
training institutes, such as online payment,
instant help and support. The existing eSer-
vices, including permit renewal, student reg-
istration and certificate attestation will con-
tinue to be used as well.
The Abu Dhabi based social responsibility
organization, Nahtam, has launched the
Bank Al Miyah (Water Bank in Arabic) ini-
tiative in both Arabic and English as part of
theAbu Dhabi Sustainability Week events.
The initiative aims to promote awareness
of the significance of saving water and
energy and encourage citizens and resi-
dents in the country to open accounts and
start saving water.
Nahtam’s booth at the events was flagged
with a saying for late Sheikh Zayed Bin
Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the UAE,
reading: “Our fathers and grandfathers
lived on this land to preserve it. They
only took from it what they needed and
left what future generations will use as a
source and a spring of living.”
The organization is hoping that the ini-
tiative would result in saving around 200
cubic meters of water in its first year of
launch.
