The Board of Trustees for the Sharjah Prize

ence in the Arab region launched the official
website for the prize, allowing Arab scientists
and researchers to participate in it.
The website offers all information relating to
the prize and its target audience, simplifying
communication with its technical secretariat
and registration process through its distin-
guished services. It also explains to its visi-
tors how to register for the prize and clarifies
nomination mechanism.
The website contains several sections that
highlight the goals and domains of the prize,
offering a comprehensive online guide for
those interested in following up latest devel-
opments of the prize.
The Ministry of Interior called upon travel-
ers already registered in the Electronic Ports
Project (e-gate), to avail of the many advan-
tages provided by the service, which features
speedy travel procedures across the coun-
try’s ports.
These remarks came as part of the ‘Security
Glances’ campaign organized by the Radio
Branch at the Security Media Department,
the General Secretariat of the Office of His
Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minis-
ter of Interior.
The E-Gate System is considered as the
most efficient and advanced program world-
wide from technical, operational and security
integration perspectives, and ensures the
highest standards of safety and security to all
passengers.

ID card e-readers
contribute to saving AED 50 million
The electronic card readers distrib-
uted by the Emirates Identity Author-
ity to public and private sectors orga-
nizations resulted in direct savings of
more than AED 50 million.
Since the middle of 2013 until Decem-
ber 2014, Emirates ID distribute over
700 thousand readers.
The distribution of the card readers
was aimed at achieving Emirates ID’s
strategic objective, namely “integra-
tion and inter-linkage”, thereby maxi-
mizing the use of the identity card and
making it the principal document of
individual identification in the country
in both the public and private sectors.
Emirates ID clarified that as a special-
ized entity, it was able to make bulk
purchases of the reader, which result-
ed in saving around AED 100 thou-
sand in the cost of each reader. The
market price of the e-reader sways
between AED 96,000 and 132,000.
