The Facebook page of the Emirates
Identity Authority has become, by the
end of 2014, the UAE Government so-
cial media channel with the highest num-
ber of in-country followers, attracting
163,000 followers.
The statistics released by Socialbakers,
provider of social media analytic tools,
statistics and metrics, showed that the
number of followers on the Emirates
ID’s Facebook page from the UAE and
abroad rose by 344 percent compared
to 2013 as the total number reached
234,170. This increase also reflected on
the number of followers on the Author-
ity’s other social media channels, reach-
ing 323,710 followers in 2014.
Socialbakers pointed out that the Au-
thority’s Twitter account recorded an in-
crease of 125 percent in the number of
followers in 2014, attracting 86,527 new
followers. The percentage of increase in
the number of followers on the Emirates
ID’s Twitter help account stood at 21.6
percent.
As for the Authority’s You Tube followers,
the increase was 342.5 percent and this
is primarily contributed to the videos that
explain the services and procedures, in
addition to those posted in celebration of
national, religious and other occasions.
Emirates ID was keen to optimize its so-
cial media pages to enhance its services
and ensure timely source of help and in-
formation for all its customers, keeping
up to their aspirations and contributing
to solving their problems, as well as en-
abling them to lodge their feedback and
complaints in an easy manner with the
aim to achieve their satisfaction.
The increase in the number of follow-
ers across the various channels is due
to the timely updates and richness of
information these contain, alongside the
popularity of Facebook in the UAE with
in-country users of around 5 million due
to the various features it offers to corpo-
rates and individuals.
