Since announc-
ing its launch,
the site had many
visitors, who followed
photos on social media
platforms. Dubai360.com is
an interactive and illustrative
site of Dubai.
Dubai360.com currently has 1300
landmarks or points of interest in Dubai.
The team plans on doubling this number
by the end of this year and will continue to
use the platform to demonstrate the prog-
ress the city makes.
In addition to photos, the site has videos.
The site team had to take about 500,000
photos to launch the website. Dubai Inter-
national Airport by itself needed 88,000
pictures, that were put together to create
a panoramic video clip of the airport traffic
at day and night.
Latest visual effects used by professional
experts and specialists equipped with
digital cameras were used. Helicopters
were also hired and used in taking a large
amount of pictures.
The team said they developed a custom
interface for the website that enabled us-
ers to interact with Dubai’s landmarks.
The site provides viewing options includ-
ing “rectilinear”, “Little Planet” or “fish-eye”
views. Users can share their favorite views
with their friends through emails and on
social media.
With Dubai360.com, whether you live
in Dubai or are planning a visit, you can
discover something new in the city every
day. From the cultural area of Bastakiya to
luxury hotels and the Dubai International
Airport, this project has something for ev-
eryone, making it an exciting way to ex-
plore Dubai.
People can now look at ten luxury hotels
and tour their rooms and suits using the
360-degree technology.
Dubai360.com users can tour Burj Al Arab
and view the Royal Suite with its gilded
and magnificent interior designs as well
as the opulent rooms overlooking the sea.
The list also includes Armani Hotel lo-
cated in Burj Khalifa, Atlantis Hotel, Palm
Jumeirah, the Address Downtown Dubai,
the Palace Downtown Dubai, the Meydan
Hotel in Nad Al Sheba, Jumeirah Beach
Hotel, Al Qasr Hotel, and Mina A’Salam
Hotel, in Madinat Jumeirah and Raffles
Hotel near Wafi city.
Users of the site can hop between Dubai
Metro stations through the 360 rota-
tion photos. To shoot this video, special
mounts were created to place cameras
on metro roofs, thus covering both the red
and green metro routes.
The trip takes users to all stations and ar-
eas surrounding the metro. Dubai360.com
does not only focus on Dubai’s landmarks
but on all social and cultural aspects of
the city. The next step shall include all ho-
tels, government agencies and hospitals
in Dubai. The privacy of these places is
taken into consideration and shall not be
jeopardized.
