The website provides enough information
about the services. However, the way the
services are presented needs to be im-
proved (screenshot 2).
The search tool works well.
The navigation trail is not clickable to
make it easier for the user to go back to a
preveious point.
The design of some of the pages is differ-
ent from the rest of the site (screenshot 3)
Content:
Website content is a very crucial element
in ensuring its success in meeting users’
needs and expectations. The content
should be succinct and provide users with
the information they need, without being
distracted by unnecessary messages.
Below are a few remarks on the web-
site in this regard:
There’s no FAQ section on the website. It
will be also useful to provide a window for
the users to ask more questions.
There are some language errors in both
Arabic and English that need to be edited
(screenshot 4).
Some links are not correct (e.g. mGov-
ernment in the footer links to ‘gia.gov.ae’
which no longer exists). Social media links
in the footer open the default pages of
those websites, not the Ministry’s pages)
Some sections need to be updated (latest
news item is dated 29 May 2014, which
is the date the website was last updated).
Copyright year mentioned is 2011.
The website provides various communica-
tion channels with the public including so-
cial media. However, the content focuses
more on the Ministry’s news and activi-
ties rather than the services. The Ministry
does not have a Twitter account.
Final Remarks:
The aim of this quick review is to highlight
the main features and unique character-
istics of the website in addition to a few
areas that can be improved in order to
provide a better user experience.
The website was reviewed from 5-12 Sep-
tember 2014. Any changes on the website
after that date are not re-
flected.
