Plan your Trips
in Arabic
“Sallety”.. You window to commodity
prices and promotions
“Wojhati”
The Public Transport Agency at the Road
and Transport Authority has recently
launched the world’s first Arabic language
Journey Planner as an addition to its
“Wojhati” app, enabling public transport
users to pre-plan their daily travels as an
advanced step taken in support of the
Dubai’s Smart Government drive.
The move is aimed to assist the public
transport users in making prior plans for
their daily travels on the metro, public
buses, water bus, and the water taxi. The
launch of the Arabic edition of Wojhati app
is viewed as in important step that would
undoubtedly contribute to broadening the
base of public transport users in Dubai,
particularly those who prefer to use Arabic
language in such smart applications.
Besides Arabizing Wojhati (Journey Plan-
ner) for the first time at global level, the
App has been configured to work with
Windows operating system; the first time
in the Middle East, and the second time
worldwide, following Germany. More-
over, the app is compatible with all sorts
of smart phones such as iPhone, Android
and Blackberry in order to meet the needs
of all smart phone users.
Sallety (which means basket in Arabic)
is the first-of-its-kind application in the
region which provides a list of the basic
commodities and products of interest to
consumers along with their prices at 8 dif-
ferent shopping outlets around Dubai.
The application was launched by the
Commercial Compliance and Consumer
Protection Sector at the Department of
Economic Development (DED) in Dubai.
It provides the user with information on
current promotions and special offers in
shopping centres and major hypermar-
kets through iOS and Android platforms.
“Sallety” offers a unique option for con-
sumers to submit complaints through
smart phones, a value-added service
which complements DED’s Ahlan-Dubai
service on 600545555 that deals with
complaints related to retailers.
8 Outlets
“Sallety” app lists details of a large num-
ber of products and commodities. In
three steps, consumers can get details
about prices and availability of products
at 8 major outlets and their 60 branches
across Dubai. Outlets include Carrefour,
Lulu Hypermarket, Union Co-op, Hyper
Panda, Emirates Co-op Society, Spin-
ney’s and Choithram among other major
outlets in Dubai.
“Sallety” is the first integrated programme
in the region as it includes three services
provided through one platform, namely:
promotions, commodity prices and com-
plaints. It is considered the flagship of e-
communication with consumers.
DED is planning to further enhance the
app by adding a new section to show all
return transactions. It will partner with a
specialized American company to link
the application with shopping outlets so
as to allow users to do their purchasing
through “Sallety” in addition to saving and
archiving their bills.
