security breach doesn’t

tions and password can be guessed.
H continued saying that we can easily as-
sess whether this breach can put Apple’s
notable security data at risk by reviewing
the other services it provides like iTunes
Store and entertainment content that was
never breached. Additionally, the operat-
ing system iOS has never been breached
since its launch.
Mohammed Mobasseri, CEO of EMT Dis-
tribution blamed the crisis on Apple and
the companies it outsources to because
it loosened up security terms used for
iCloud, adding it is the main cause of the
breach. He pointed out that iCloud secu-
rity breach should not affect Apple’s sales
though.
Mobasseri believes that the vulnerabil-
ity of data security on iCloud and virtual
storage can be addressed and fixed eas-
ily. However, the real problem threatening
any tech company is the operating sys-
tem breach, something that Android con-
tinuously experiences. Apple, however,
has not encountered any breaches since
iPhones were released to the market. The
recent nude photos leakage can hardly
shake the trust consumers have of their
Apple devices.
Mobasseri indicated that Apple’s data se-
curity solutions are rapidly progressing.
Through iCloud, iPhone users can down-
load a recently released app called iPro-
tect. It allows you to password protect ap-
plications and iPhone data, making data
theft and breach, even of user’s social
media content almost impossible.
Johnny Karam, Vice-President, Middle
East and Africa (MENA) of Citrix, a mar-
ket leader in cloud, networking and virtu-
alization technologies believes the Apple’s
recent breach crisis shows lack of aware-
ness by iPhone users about what really
happened. He added that most people
talking about the incident put it in the sim-
ple terms that “Apple was breached”. The
truth is completely different. The operat-
ing system iOS has never bene breached
even once, including its integrated servic-
es and applications. That is why we should
not directly blame Apple for the breach.
Karam added that iCloud is an applica-
tion that is not directly provided by Apple
but rather through outsourced providers.
The breach was caused by loose data
security measures. However, the breach
does not indicate a complete vulnerability
of iCloud. The victims were Hollywood ce-
lebrities whose dates of births are known
and security questions and passwords
can be easily guessed. Their regular user
accounts were unharmed by the breach.
He continued saying that breaching the
accounts of senior businesspeople and
CEOs would have reeled in more financial
profit for the hackers if they blackmailed
them with personal photos. But they were
not attacked because guessing their se-
curity information would have been much
harder. Not surprisingly, their accounts
were spared the breach.
