Saeed Belhoul:
FedNET is a key milestone in
ntegrating government services
The UAE Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) kicked off
the federal network (FedNET) project by appointing Etisalat and DU as
partners in the execution and operation processes. FedNET will provide
a package of services to the various federal government entities in the
country, including a private government network for inter-governmental
transactions, an interconnectivity managed by operations teams who
will work 24x7x365 based on predefined service level agreements, vir-
tual computing and storage environment and network to help agencies
deliver their services with the least possible waiting time and at low
costs via a virtual datacenter specific for the federal network. Benefits
also include a package of joint and collaborative governmental servic-
es, a main datacenter and a disaster recovery unit.
In this context, Saeed Belhoul (Operations Manager) at TRA said that
establishing a federal network is a key milestone towards integrating all
the various government services.
“The network will enable all government bodies to deploy and utilize
services of each other within the private government network,” Belhoul
pointed out.
“Etisalat and DU will join efforts in order to implement the project, which
will be launched and used by government entities in the first quarter of
2015,” Belhoul added.
