Al Gergawi:
The award adds a real value to the social,
cultural and economic initiatives

man of the Executive Office of Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-
President and Prime Minister of the UAE
and Ruler of Dubai stated that the Arab
Social Media Award will recognize the
social media true impact on the intellec-
tual, social and cultural ground in the Arab
World.
The award will seek to add a real value to
the type of social, cultural and economic
initiatives launched through social media
that make a truly positive impact on the
ground.
“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed be-
lieves that combining the productive en-
ergy of youth with the vast capabilities
of social media platforms can affect real
positive change in the Arab world,” Al Ger-
gawi said. Sheikh Mohammed himself is
as an early adopter of social media and
is well known for frequent innovations on-
line. He was the first world leader to an-
nounce a cabinet change on Twitter and
earlier this year launched the largest-ever
online brainstorm for government service
improvement. His Highness is now among
the top ten world leaders on social media,
with almost six million followers across his
various social media platforms.
“The award will be one of the major global
awards in the coming period. It will also
include many activities, programs and
reports that aim to add real value in the
social media field in the Arab World,” Al
Gergawi added.
