“Secret
Dens”
A private,
limited-member
social network
“Yo”
a poking app spreading like a rocket
The internet services company Secret
has unveiled its new “Dens” app that
allows users to create private, limited-
member sub-networks in a secret stream.
Secret Dens are rolling out in an invite-
only pilot, Secret said. The pilot is avail-
able to “a small group of companies for
now,” but Secret said it will eventually
pitch Dens to schools and other organi-
zations in addition to businesses.
In a blog post, Secret said that “Secret
Dens brings a new layer to your Secret
stream, giving you a private, company-
specific Den to share anything you’re
thinking - kept within the walls of your
workplace.”
The messaging app ‘Yo’, which was launched
as a joke on April Fools’ Day 2014 with a very
simple function, has more than 50000 active
iPhone and Android users who have sent 4
million Yo’s.
Life Before Us, LLC, the development team
behind the app, described the app as the sim-
plest and most efficient communication tool in
the world. With a single tap, the app sends
push notifications to the users’ contacts,
something similar to the Poke feature on the
social media network “Facebook”.
For example, if you want to say good morn-
ing, or anything else, to someone and you
feel lazy to write the message and send it
through the instant messaging apps or social
media networks, just tap on the user name
within the Yo app and it will instantly reach
the other side.
Yo was created by Or Arbel, an iOS devel-
oper, when he was asked by his boss at the
time, Moshe Hogeg, head of the image-shar-
ing app Mobli, to come up with a way to com-
municate with his assistant without calling or
texting.
