In a TV interview, Masood Al Awar, CEO, Tasweek Real
Estate Development and Marketing talked about the
Smart Living City exhibition to take place in September
2014. He stressed that smart technology has become es-
sential tools for the success of many sectors, such as the
real estate, financing, education and health care sectors.
Smart technology has also proved to be of key assistance
to enabling wise governance.
The Smart Living City – Dubai 2014 exhibit will showcase
the latest and best technologies and practices that con-
tribute in making Dubai a smart city. It will also show how
the Arab World is embracing the vital role of the smart
concepts and their impact on future of the region.
“Among the key goals of this event is to achieve soci-
ety satisfaction by facilitating, simplifying and expediting
communication, services and government transaction ex-
ecution. The Smart Living City is an important platform to
start taking big steps towards enhancing cooperation be-
tween the public and private sectors, as well as promoting
the concept of smart and integrated systems in the UAE,”
Al Awar added. Prominent experts and specialists in the
field of smart cities will attend the event, which will focus
on three main themes: conducting high-level discussions,
introducing the best local and global companies in the
field of smart cities and holding several workshops on the
smart living city model.
The event is also aimed to hold talent shows, promote
the creative abilities of technology lovers, find the most
effective sources and components for new projects as
well as mentors and partners from the public and private
sectors and integrate the best business incubators in a
smart platform.
In a video launched on YouTube, the General Directorate
of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai displayed the
Amer first unmanned prototype plane.
In the posted video, Major General/ Mohammed Ahmed
Al Marri, Director General of General Directorate of Resi-
dency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai is featured where
he acts out the dream that has turned into tangible reality.
The Directorate brought in the smart plane service to deliv-
er transactions from anywhere around the clock between
the Directorate’s various centers, and to save time. The
aim is to apply the best modern technological means and
keep pace with the Government of Dubai’s transition to
an eGovernment as announced by His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President,
Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and its optimum invest-
ment of technologies.
The Director General explained that through all its servic-
es, the Directorate seeks transition into an eGovernment
and providing the best government services around the
clock through easy, seamless and highly efficient and ef-
fective procedures. Such services should fulfill the needs
and meet the expectations of customs in a way that guar-
antees topnotch quality for the UAE citizens and residents.
The Innovation Lab, Corporate Communication Depart-
ment, Media Division, was in charge or launching Amer
prototype smart plane to shoot films and deliver transac-
tions inside the Directorate in Deira and Bur Dubai area,
especially express services to save time and effort.
It is also used to deliver express papers, ID cards and
passports. The plane features four small propellers and is
remote controlled. It was inspected and was flown into the
air to display its features.
