market.
“The TRA is fully committed
to the development of electronic transac-
tion and commerce in the UAE as well as
encouraging competitiveness and growth
within the sector. One of our responsibili-
ties at TRA is to safeguard the nation’s
ICT infrastructure and supply support to
a system that is favorable to investment
and complementary to online business
transactions. Rolling out these workshops
will help ensure that the entire UAE ecom-
merce ecosystem is best placed to take
advantage of the nation’s secure and reli-
able networks and identify ways to contrib-
ute to the development of the UAE digital
economy,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al
Ghanim, TRA Director General.
“Recent statistics indicate that GCC e-
commerce sales are estimated to grow to
almost $15 billion by 2015 and the UAE is
leading this progressive trend. Evidently,
e-commerce has a huge bearing on driv-
ing economic development and any effort
that seeks to enhance both public and pri-
vate sector e-commerce strategies is one
of national importance.  We are currently
pursuing a range of policies that will en-
courage local SME’s to derive their busi-
ness online and support people wanting to
launch their own eCommerce store in the
UAE,” he added.
