The Emirates Identity Authority has redeployed
data on the backside of the Emirates ID cards in
preparation for adding new data in future. This
is part of the Authority’s efforts at widening the
scope of the use of the ID cards and activating it
as the principal reference for the identification and
authentication of individual identities.
The Authority explained that this amendment
would not require any involvement from the cus-
tomers, nor will they have to replace their cards.
The amendments on the card involved only minor
changes in the fields that record date of birth, card
number, validity, signature and the special
note on card loss and the serial number for
the electronic chip.
“The new change leaves some blank
space on the backside of the card, allow-
ing for the addition of new data later. The
Authority is currently in consultation with its
strategic partners to determine what those addi-
tional data would be. They might include a special
logo for special needs people, and driver’s license
number, besides some personal data in QR code
shape,” the Authority added.
The Arab Journalism Award’s (AJA) board
of directors has approved adding the ‘Smart
Journalism’ category, the first of its kind in
the Arab world. The new category was ap-
proved following a proposal submitted to the
board by the award’s General Secretariat,
represented by Dubai Press Club (DPC).
The General Secretariat stated that the new
category is in line with keenness to keep
abreast with the rapid global development
in the media field in general and journalism
in particular, as well as in the field of e-pub-
lishing. It also complements DPC’s mission
in foreseeing the future of media and jour-
nalism in the region.
The award will be granted for the best jour-
nalistic use of smart technologies to cater
to a wider audience, especially youths, who
represent a large number of the new media
audience.

three components of Design, Enable and Assure to include
business processes, architectural layout marketing, health,
safety, security and environment technology solutions, net-

station roll-outs.
Under the agreement, Proviti shall offer re-engineering busi-
ness solutions, develop marketing strategies and conceptu-
alize designs for station engineering and recommend best
practices in health, safety and compliance. The project is
