“Ablighna”.. a smart service from FEWA
The Federal Electricity and Water Authority
(FEWA) has launched “Ablighna” (Emergency
Services) mobile application that allows its
customers to easily report faults through their
smartphones.
Through the app, FEWA will be able to measure
performance indicators against the repair time-
lines defined for each type of fault and compli-
ance to those timelines. The app also provides
the Authority with reports with type of the emer-
gency categorized according to the received re-
ports, in addition to obtaining information about
frequent faults in a specific area in order to ar-
range for maintenance or replacement.
Once a fault was reported in the system by the
centralized emergency center or by a customer
using the app, it gets instantly transmitted to the
emergency mobile of one of the alternate techni-
cians put on duty to attend the issue.
The technician gets information on the fault with
Geo-coordinates through the GPS system. The
emergency center confirms receipt of the report
to customers via SMS.
The Higher Colleges of Technology stu-
dents in Dubai have grabbed the first
three positions in the “Green Smart Apps”
competition with the ‘Paper recycling’
app in the first place. The app was devel-
oped by students Hussain Al Sejwani and
Rashid Fikri from Computer Program and
Information Systems.
The app answers the question “why do we
recycle paper?” in a smart and innovative
way.
In the second place came “Food Recy-
cling” app developed by Ahmed Abdul-
rahim and Saeed Baqer. It focuses on
recycling food leftovers and protecting
environment from acute plant and animal
waste. Meanwhile, the “Electronics Recy-
cling” app came in the third place. The app
was developed by Abdullah bin Shafia
and Mohammed Sorour and it contributes
to preserving environment from electronic
waste.
