Facebook’s overall revenue grew 72 percent year-on-
year to $2.5 billion in the first quarter, above the $2.36
billion expected by analysts.
Facebook’s newsfeed ads have ignited Facebook’s rev-
enue growth and bolstered its stock price during the past
year.
43 million iPhones
Apple broke iPhone sales records during
the first three months of 2014 announc-
ing that it sold 43.7 million units, the high-
est figure in the non-holiday seasons.
US$ 20 billion Microsoft’s
revenue in three months
Microsoft Corp. announced revenue
of $20.40 billion for the quarter ended
March 31, 2014.
The company’s income from Windows
operating system sales was affected
due to the reducing global personal de-
mand for the system. However, its rev-
enue from selling the system to devices
manufacturers grew by 6 percent.
10 million downloads of “Muslim Pro”
The Muslim Pro mobile application announced that
it has reached more than 10 million downloads
across 216 countries worldwide since its launch
less than four years ago. Out of Muslim Pro’s ex-
isting user base of more than 10 million, it has an
average of almost 3 million active users monthly.
Around 15,000 new users are added daily, but dur-
ing Ramadan, downloads can shoot up to as high
as 100,000 in a single day.
103 million mobile subscribers in Egypt
The number of mobile subscribers in Egypt reached
around 100.3 million by end of January 2014 compared
to 99.7 million by end of December 2013.
