Such keenness by the initiative owners is
an evidence of their understanding of the
importance of information security, partic-
ularly in relation to smart services that will
be offered by government agencies, Bin
Hussain added, underlining that there is
no room for neglect in respect of citizens’
and residents’ sensitive data that will be
transmitted through smart services and
smartphones.
He pointed out that based on the gov-
ernment’s endeavor to boost customers’
trust in the offered services, it strives to
innovate solutions to ensure protection
of those services against potential piracy
crimes.
Bin Hussain clarified that the mGovern-
ment cooperates with all the private sector
companies as well as the academic insti-
tutions in order to develop frameworks for
information security and smart applica-
tions. These frameworks will be unique
at the regional and even global levels in
order to ensure effectiveness of the smart
applications and their infrastructure, he
added.
He underlined that there is a significant
cooperation with all technology providers
to introduce the concept of mGovernment
and ways to protect its services with the
aim to obtain support from companies
specialized in information security.
All efforts are being dedicated towards re-
alizing the vision of His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-
President and Prime Minister of the UAE
and Ruler of Dubai, he added, citing the
launch of the Telecommunication Regu-
latory Authority’s mGovernment lab. The
lab is the-first-of-its-kind in the Arab re-
gion dedicated to verifying the quality and
security of mGovernment applications
through conducting various functional and
security tests, he clarified.
Bin Hussain believed that the services
provided by the lab is unique in terms of
offering a high level of security through
the mGovernment cloud network, making
these services available not only to local
government agencies, but to all organi-
zations and governments regionally and
globally.
For his part, Rami Al Sada, Head of Com-
munication section at Abu Dhabi Systems
and Information Centre, said that the de-
velopment in the country in terms of tech-
nology utilization and the move towards
materializing the concepts of mGovern-
ment and eGovernment necessitate an
utmost attention be given to infor-
mation security.

ing and supporting the movement of information security in the UAE, expecting that the UAE public
spending on this sector will grow at an annual rate of 16 per cent over the next five years . Meshal
Abdullah bin Hussain, Head of the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team Operations and the
mGovernment Center for Digital Innovation Project Manager, said that those who are implementing the
projects connected to this initiative are keen to lay down the foundations of information security and
optimally apply them.
