My.com, launched a new, mobile only free
email service with the @my.com domain
name. Users can sign up for a new email
account address today via their iOS and
Android phones.
My.com said that registering the email ad-
dress in the new services needs an active
phone number and pin numbers will be sent
to activate the account for the first time and
upon log-in in the future.
@my.com email service does not require
users to create a password during regis-
tration -- an industry first in email security.
This also increases account security and
makes it hard to be hacked via traditional
methods.
Twitter is testing a new fea-
ture called “Significant en-
gagement” in its iOS app.
The company describes
these achievements as “Im-
portant or higher than usual
engagement with your ac-
count or Tweets.”
This is quite similar to
Achievement Bird, a Twitter
experiment that sends you
analytics via direct message.

45% of UAE residents use GITEX Shopper
An Acer survey reveals that 45% of UAE
residents use GITEX shopper to purchase
all their IT products.
The survey also revealed that purchasing
decisions were swayed in equal measure
by brand loyalty, and deals on offer during
shopper, while only 12% considered the
price of the products as the defining factor.
40% of UAE residents are looking to buy a
combination of a tablet, Smartphone or a
tablet 2-in-1 PC, whereas 20% is looking to
buy all three.
Another 10% are in the market for a 2-in-
1tablet PC. Smartphones are an agenda
for 15% of residents, and another 15% are
inclined towards a tablet. The survey high-
lights the rise in adoption of touch devices
in the UAE.
