Hemayati (my protection) smartphone app
launched by the Ministry of Interior helps
parents protect their children, keep tabs
on them, know their whereabouts, times
of their arrival and departure from school
and send them notifications in case of de
-
lay. The app enables the family to com-
municate at any given time and children
can press the emergency button and call
for help when they feel they are in danger.
The app can be exclusively downloaded
in the UAE and comes as part of the ef
-
forts of the Ministry of Interior that recently
launched 169 e-services on its website
and 30 smartphone apps.
Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nu
-
aimi, Secretary General of the Office of
HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Interior and Chairman of the MOI Higher
Committee for Child Protection, explained
that activating Hemayati system comes
as response to parents’ requests to keep
track of the whereabouts of their children.
He indicated that this app forms part of the
Ministry’s initiatives to provide care for the
youngsters and enhance their protection
and safety on a wide range.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi,
Acting General Director of eServices and
Communications at the Ministry stated
that the app provides a safe umbrella to
enhance child protection indicating that it
enables parents to know the locations of
their children and any delay in their arrival
to their destination such as school and
public places.
Al Raisi pointed out that the app allows
family members communicate through the
app as it enjoys secure features thanks to
the privacy of use and helps in locating the
children when they are lost and notifies
their parents when they are late in arriving
to school or any other pre-set place. He
stressed that these projects help benefit
the country and its nationals.
Lieutenant-Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al
Shammari, Director of the Ministry of In
-
terior’s Child Protection Centre said that
the app automatically sends notifications
to parents in case the child is late in ar-
riving to their destination; for example, the
parent can set the arrival time for children
to school as from 7:30 to 7:45 AM. In case
of non-arrival or late arrival of the child, the
app sends a notification to the parents let
-
ting them know of the problem, thus en-
abling them to take the proper action to
ensure the safety of their child.
Al Shammari explained that the app en
-
ables family members to communicate
as one member can click on one of the
family members’ images on the map and
the name and last place he/she was in will
appear. They may then call, send them a
message or request to locate them, a ser-
vice that is exclusive among family mem-
bers through a “private group” option.
He pointed out that Emirates ID is used
to register in the app. Identity of the per-
son who activates the app is verified only
through the parents by entering the ID
number to verify that the person is autho-
rized to use the app.
phone can make online payments; users need to
draw the amount to be paid in the air and in this
case, the phone will receive the order and make
the online payment.
