mGovernment Magazine - Issue 7 - page 40

Weak interaction through social media
FAQs section is very comprehensive
The homepage focuses on most used
services. However, the design needs
to be improved. The main banner occu-
pies a large portion of the page which
requires scrolling (screenshot 2).
There’s no link to the homepage in the
other pages. The user has to click on the
logo to go to the homepage.
The search tool works fine.
Some pages (e.g. exam schedules)
are pdf files. However, there’s no link to
download a pdf reader. It would be bet-
ter if the tables are available in both html
and pdf formats.
The sitemap is well organised and helps
the user reach different sections of the
website.
Content:
Website content is a very crucial ele-
ment in ensuring its success in meet-
ing users’ needs and expectations. The
content should be succinct and provide
users with the information they need,
without being distracted by unnecessary
messages.
Following are a few remarks on the
website in this regard:
The website is rich in information and
services in both Arabic and English. It
provides detailed information about the
Council’s services including infograph-
ics (e.g. Procedures for Registration)
(screenshot 3).
The FAQ section is very rich. However,
it would be useful if there’s a tool for the
user to ask more questions.
The links in the footer need to be re-
phrased (e.g. Copyrights ADEC 2013
should be ©ADEC 2014) (screenshot 4).
The website provides various commu-
nication channels with the public includ-
ing social media. However, there is not
much interaction with the public through
these channels. Also, the content does
not focus on the Council’s services. Be
-
sides, most of the posts and tweets are
in Arabic.
Final Remarks:
The aim of this quick review is to high-
light the main features and unique char-
acteristics of the website in addition to a
few areas that can be improved in order
to provide a better user experience.
The website was reviewed between 28th
March and 2nd April, 2014. Any changes
on the website after that date are not re-
flected.
Your comments and remarks are always
welcome.
