A study conducted by ‘We are Social’ Agen-
cy revealed that internet users in the King-
dom of Saudi Arabia access internet through
their personal computers for an average of
5 hours per day, while the average of daily
time spent on internet via smartphones was
3 hours.
According to the study, 47 percent of Sau-
dis use their smartphones to access inter-
net, noting that the number of internet users
in the Kingdom reached around 14 million;
accounting for 53 percent of the popula-
tion. 7.6 million users are using Face-
book.
Among social media websites,
Facebook came first in terms of us

age in Saudi Arabia, followed by
Twitter, Google+, Instagram and last
LinkedIn.
73 percent of residents in Saudi Arabia
possess smartphones, out of which 31
percent are being used for e-shopping and
89 percent for locating information on local
services.
It seems that the decline in the PC mar-
ket around the world will force HP, the
American leading PC, printers and serv-
ers manufacturer, to get into smartphone
manufacturing, competing thereby with
Apple and Samsung; the two giants in
this field.
According to expert websites; such as
Cnet.com, HP is planning to get back
into the smartphone market during 2014.
Although this is not the first experience
for HP in this field since it has launched
its first WebOS based smart phone ‘HP
Veer’ in 2011, however, the company is
still ambitious with its new product.
A US study showed that the majority
of smartphone users “are not smart
enough” to use their devices properly.
According to the study, several appli-
cations and features that are available
in smart phones are being misused or
ignored by owners of these phones.
Users are not sufficiently benefiting
from the features.
