The Ministry of Economy has
launched the first smartphone
interactive application that allows
UAE companies to demonstrate
their foreign operations suc-
cesses in an innovative way. The
app also allows the international
businesses community to easily
reach decision-makers at these
companies.
The Ministry will constantly up-
grade the app so as to become
a base for an Emirati smart busi-
ness community.
Attention to such initiatives is
driven by the role of the private
sector investments and foreign
operations in supporting the na-
tional economy in terms of boost-
ing economic ties with the globe,
transferring knowledge and
modern technologies, enabling
the Emirati entrepreneurship,
enhancing the country’s position
as a strategic world trade hub,
promoting UAE as a symbol for
progress, efficiency and quality,
strengthening its attraction as
a promising market enjoying a
global penetration and increas-
ing the volume of foreign invest-
ment in the country.
Under the technological category, the
World Economic Forum’s ‘Global Risks
2014 Report’ has assessed 31 risks dur-
ing 2014, including cyber attacks and the
destruction of IT infrastructure.
The report, drew on the survey respons-
es of around 700 experts and a 10-year
outlook, contained a set of investigations
on three specific areas including the in
-
creasing risk of cyber attacks.
According to the report, increasing reli-
ance on the internet and the explosive
growth in devices that are connected to
it has intensified the risk of massive sys
-
temic failure or “cybergeddon” in the cur-
rent year, potentially resulting in breaking
systems or taking communities apart.
The Red Crescent Authority has imple-
mented a new electronic system called
“Local Aid Gateway”, which allows in-
dividuals to submit a new application
for aid and use a given password to
track their applications; eliminating
thereby the need for applicants to
visit RCA’s offices.
Mohammed Yusuf Al Fahim, RCA’s
Deputy Secretary-General for Sup-
port Services, said such initiatives
come in line with the country’s drive
towards mGovernment and as part of
endeavors to reduce paper work, save
time, efforts and cost; and thus allow-
ing the opportunity to use these costs to
serve beneficiaries of RCA services.
Al Fahim, added that the “service will be
available for submission of a new ap-
plications or renew old applications for
those who are eligible for aid.
