260 projects compete for the best mGov
Award, among which 175 projects come
from the UAE.
University student teams have recorded
a significant presence among the proj
-
ects submitted by the rest of the award
categories, making it the highest in the
total number of participants on the na-
tional, Arab and global level, with 109
participating projects.
Federal entities submitted 28 projects,
and local governments 38, raising the
number of national participating projects
to 175 across all categories.
The number of Arab participants has ex-
ceeded expectations to record a strong
presence as well. The total number of
projects nominated for the award is 58
while the international participation rep-
resents only 27 projects, which stresses
the importance given to the award not
only on the national level but also on Arab
and international levels.
The best mGov award is aimed at the
federal and local government entities in
the UAE. It also targets the best Arab
and international examples, reflecting the
leadership of the UAE in terms of spread-
ing benefit and distinguished service ex
-
periences.
The Best mGov Award is divided into
five main categories namely, best mGov
award on the federal level, best mGov
award on the local level, best mGov
award on the Arab level, best mGov
award on the international level, and best
mGov award on UAE university students
level “worth one million dirhams”.
According to Hessa Buhumaid, Executive
Director - Government Services Sector -
Prime Minister’s Office, the award has re
-
ceived high affinity in all categories. She
stressed that this represents a clear un-
derstanding of the goals of the award and
reflects the keenness of local and federal
government entities as well as universi-
ties and higher education institutes in the
country to participate.
She also demonstrated that this wide-
spread participation supports the efforts
of the government towards the transition
to mGovernment in a short period of time
and to achieve sustainable development
in the services provided for the users in a
way that harmonizes with the goals of the
UAE Vision 2021.
Buhumaid has also pointed to the re-
markable response shown by university
student teams by providing 109 innova-
tive projects in collaboration with gov-
ernment entities, which represents the
vision of His Highness Sheikh Moham-
med bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Presi-
dent and Prime Minister of the UAE and
Ruler of Dubai by allocating a category
in the award worth one million dirhams
for UAE university students to support
Emirati youth and encourage their in-
novative energy to serve
t he i r

programmes and applica-
tions to facilitate applying
the government’s initiatives
to elevate the level of ser-
vices for the users.
She added that the level
of cooperation achieved
between the government
agencies and the stu-
dent work teams rep-
resents an example for
mutual communica-
tion and understand-
ing. Further, she
stressed her trust
that the university
students’ projects
will support the
transition of the
UAE government
into an mGov-
ernment
