Saudi Inventor
AdibAllah Al Farih
demonstrates smart pillow
mGov YouTube Channel posted a video
explaining that the Telecommunications
Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced
the launch of the first mGovernment Lab
in the Arab region dedicated to verifying
the quality and security of mGovernment
applications. The Lab will also test wheth-
er applications submitted comply with in-
ternational standards and best practice.
This innovative initiative comes as part
of the wider national effort to
shift towards smart government in line
with the vision of His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and
Ruler of Dubai.
The video demonstrates the technology
used in the Lab. The mGovernment lab
contains state-of-the-art advanced op-
erating systems designed specifically to
testing smart applications.
All the
required software
is in place and the
specialist have al-
ready started test-
ing operations for a
variety of UAE gov-
ernment entities.
Saudi inventor AdibAllah Al Farih demon-
strated his invention, the smart pillow in
a video posted on YouTube. He received
patent for the invention from the GCC
Patent Office.
Al Farih said that his pillow relies primar-
ily on the medical foam material which
maintains the natural angle of the neck
and spine.
The smart pillow contains a key electron-
ic chip for operation in addition to a small
chip to turn off air-conditioners and lights.
It has a battery that can last many hours
and has three vibrators, a water pump
and a 500 ml water tank and a clock that
can be set to five different timings per day
with easy settings.
The pillow also has indicators for low
battery and low water level. It also has a
sound pickup, two 4 watt speakers, bat-
tery charge outlet and USB to play audio
files.
The pillow can wake up the sleeper at
the set time, and if no action is taken or
if the pillow is not notified of waking up, it
sprays little amounts of water to wake up
the sleeper without noise.
The smart pillow
is convenient for
people with spe-
cial needs, like
deaf people and
those who have
hearing problems.
