Great design and user-friendly
Fewer vehicles deprives
Smart Taxi
of full rating on Android & iOS
App users unanimously agreed that the
lack of sufficient number of taxis in the
emirate is the only weakness of the app.
Its ease of use can only be successful
when the number of taxis available is in-
creased to meet the increasing demand.
Moataz Al Shami considered the Smart
Taxi app to be a great idea as it saved him
much time.
However, Al Shami draws attention of the
app administrators about the need to take
into account a number of points he be-
lieves will bolster the app success. He be-
lieves the app should be exclusive to the
UAE residents or those with a local phone
number to register through it, as tourists
and visitors represent a large number of
taxi customers in Dubai. The app should
also indicate the driver’s name of the taxi
booked to the client.
To start using the app, users must first
enter their data and create an account.
When users want to book a taxi, they
only need to press the “Book” button then
shake the phone. The GPS will search for
two minutes to locate the nearest taxi to
the client’s location and asks the client to
confirm the order. A map will appear on
the screen to show the location of the taxi
and the route it is taking.
Another app user, Othman Al Ali, asks the
app administrators to change one of its
technical features; when the taxi reaches

he Roads & Transport Authority’s new Smart Taxi app, used to order taxi services in Dubai through
smart phones was downloaded 25,000 times from the app store on Android and iOS platforms. This
came during the first month of its launch. App users on Android and iOS have rated the app 4 out of
5, explaining that the use mechanism is easy and clear and the service it offers makes booking and
ordering a taxi in Dubai an easy experience.
