The Ministry of Education formed a team
to speed up transforming its services into
smart apps pursuant to the UAE Govern-
ment’s smart transition trends.
Moreover, the Ministry developed a strate-
gic plan for the coming period entitled “The
Smart Transition Strategy” with the aim to
include all its services within this framework.
The Ministry took significant steps in this ap-
proach as its smart services represent 21%
of its total services, which is 40 out of 189
services offered by the Ministry.
Students are the top beneficiary group of
such services, representing 71% followed
by employees at 61% and community mem-
bers at 7%.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the
smart metro information kiosk service by deploying 50 informa-
tion systems in 23 metro stations on both the Red and Green
Lines, offering a diverse cast of information & services to meet
the needs of the metro riders.
These systems encompass key services highlighted by interac-
tive maps of the metro station sites, timetables & neighbourhood
of the station, fare calculation method, information about the
metro (ride regulations, offences, types of NOL cards, and at-
titudes to be observed during the ride), photo & film gallery, and
the procedure of making complaints & suggestions contributing
to the service improvement. The device is designed to display
information in Arabic & English and has a large touch screen
rendering the app user-friendly.
The General Department of Smart Services
at Dubai Police inaugurated the Home Se-
curity Programme service, the latest in its
public smart service, in cooperation with the
Criminal Investigation Department.
The director of the department of smart ser-
vices, Col Khaled Al Nasser Razooqi, said
subscribers to the new service would first
have to download the application to their
smart phones, fill in their personal infor-
mation, identify their home location using
Google maps and upload a photo of their
home and send the file directly to the rele-
vant police station. The location in question
would then be put under police surveillance
for the duration requested by the applicant.
