ayanat.ae is an online platform offering a large amount of open data,
and statistics in relation to services offered by the UAE government
across various sectors. These data are of great value to researchers,
economists and students who can study and evaluate the effectiveness

sible to the public. The portal provides
studies, reports and figures accessible to

Adopting the open data policy is an im-
portant practice that reflects the govern-
ment’s desire for continuous develop-
ment through making information and
data seamlessly available to the users.
Besides increasing government transpar-
ency, Open Data helps government enti-
ties by involving the users in the decision

The UAE adopts the open data policy to
give access to the public to the govern-
ment information and data. In framework
of this policy, government documents are
available in easy-to-use formats including
in MS Word, MS Excel and PDF.
Bayanat.ae is divided into several sec-
tions. The homepage includes an intro-
duction to open data and highlight of its
importance as well as quick links to the
services offered by the government and
other government portals. It also includes
a section for government apps and a na-
tional data section, which provides a large
amount of data including economic statis-
tics, which in turn include economic sec-
tors, foreign trade, prices and indices and
expected CPI.
The national data section also includes
agricultural and environmental statistics
such as crop statistics, livestock statistics,
fisheries statistics, agricultural economic
statistics, environment, waste statistics,
climate statistics, water statistics, air sta-
tistics and energy.
The government data section provides
links to open data on UAE government
portals namely the National Bureau of Sta-
tistics, Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi and
Dubai Statistics Centre as well as links to
open data of the UAE federal entities.
The portal provides the increase font fea-
ture to meet visitors’ preferences. It also
provides the data reading option, which is
available in many formats that can be ac-
cessed without restrictions, such as those
relating to registering a new username or
obtaining full information on purchase op-
erations.
Individuals, businesses or government
entities can use, reuse, distribute or share
open data with others without restrictions
for commercial or non-commercial pur-
poses. There are no restrictions to the use
of open data, but name of author should
be mentioned.
Data is in a downloadable and editable
format and easy to copy from. File formats
are easy to use and easily accessible by
most users, including XML, MS Excel and
MS Word.
