User guide for smart apps
mGovernment’s
official site
The Telecommunications Regula-
tory Authority (TRA) revealed the
UAE mGovernment official website
which has an information portal on
everything related to the mGov-
ernment’s initiative throughout the
UAE.
The portal is an important resource
of government apps that represent
the government services on mobile
phones and updates related to the
mGovernment initiatives such as
events, programmes, apps and
government services.
This website is linked to the UAE
official portal and is one of its main
components in addition to Baya-
nat.ae and Sharik.ae.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Deputy
Director General of Information
and e-Government Sector at TRA
and Director of the mGovernment
initiative explained that launching
the website comes as part of the
continuous efforts to implement a
road map for the mGovernment
that includes key projects and mile-
stones. We hope the website will
be an important and rich resource
for everything pertaining to this
major national initiative launched
by our wise leaders in May 2013.
The navigation bar includes a
display of smart apps, a list of
codes, the mGovernment initia-
tives, awards, news, events and
resources.
The roadmap for transformation to
mGovernment includes four paths
namely finding a public environ
-
ment for the mGovernment to flour
-
ish, assessing the capabilities of
the government entities, enabling
joint services and achieving cus-
tomer satisfaction and happiness.
Google stated it is seeking continuously to
apply the culture of innovation and creativ-
ity throughout the world, especially in the
business and public service sectors. It is
also seeking to encourage its users to think
in new ways to offer services and highly ef-
fective and efficient methods or even creat
-
ing new services.
This came during an interactive session in
cooperation with Google to shed light on
the best tools used and how to make use
of such tools in the overall development
process.
Google’s Peter Barron explained that while
he was working at Google, he was intro-
duced to unprecedented innovations in the
world. The core philosophy of spreading
Google’s innovation culture on all levels is
to enhance the promulgation and regula-
tion of information and providing the proper
tools to obtain it. He pointed out that the
company works on developing all its prod-
ucts so that it is able to meet all require
-
ments by recognizing personal needs and
interests.
Barron discussed some of the innovation
audio search technologies from Google as
he used a smartphone to ask some ques
-
tions about the tallest building in the world,
its height and design and how to go there.
The results showed complete answers
about Burj Khalifa with images, information,
data, video clips and maps. This shows the
advanced level of these services.
Barron referred to Google’s historical step
in the email world namely increasing the
storage size, which was a key driver of
hundreds of millions of users all over
the world. He also mentioned
some of the criti-
cism against
Google’s de-
cision to in-
vest in You-
Tube and
Android but
it was soon
found that
the step was
creative in antic-
ipating a bright future
for the video content
and smart app sectors.
He referred to the need for
governments to benefit from
the digital business sector.
