action with the public is a key factor to suc-
cessful leadership.
Instagram, one of the world’s most popu-
lar social media platforms, announced last
December that it would soon launch ac-
counts’ verification service.
The verification service is a certificate
given by Instagram to the accounts of
leaders, VIP’s, and public figures aiming
to protect their identity online. This is in
recognition of the vast influence such fig-
ures have on society, particularly with their
many followers on social media.
Sheikh Mohammed’s activities on Insta-
gram are not limited to posting personal
photos and videos. He has used his ac-
count to promote national campaigns and
humanitarian drives.
Among these campaigns and initiatives
are “Thank You Khalifa” initiative launched
by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed on
January 4, 2013 as a token of gratitude to
His Highness UAE President and “Thank
You Guardians of Nation” campaign
launched on January 4, 2014 on Acces-
sion Day. The campaign aimed to deliver
a message of thanks and gratitude to the
UAE armed forces and their sacred mis-
sion in safeguarding the safety and secu-
rity of this nation and its people.
Sheikh Mohammed posted over 485 pho-
tos in addition to many exclusive video
clips. The average likes for each new
photo reach 15,000 likes on the first day
alone.
The account’s followers are about 758,000
from all over the world, and the average
increase in followers is about 1,000 new
followers per day.
Some of the photos Shaikh Mohammed
posted in his page registered record num-
ber of likes. His Highness’s photo with
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khal-
ifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan collected 58,550
likes, his photo with Crown Prince of Abu
Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander
of UAE Armed Forces His Highness Gen-
eral Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Na-
hyan collected 47,299 likes.

family members and answering their re-

Instagram, which was first launched in
October 2010, is one of the world’s most
popular social media platforms. The site
has 300 million active users per day, 70%
of whom are outside the United States.
More than three billion photos have been
posted on Instagram to date, with 70 mil-
lion photos posted per day.
