Apps
Over the past eight month, 86 percent of the users of the Dubai Finan-
cial Market (DFM) smart phone application were UAE-based followed
by users in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Oman, according to DFM
report.
The report said that the application attracted 112,00 users on Apple’s
operating system, compared to 6,849 users on Android.
Through the app, DFM investors can track trading activity of listed com-
panies, the DFM General Index, and company disclosures as well as
market news.
Users can also set up price change alerts and customise the ‘market
watch’ page as they choose.

Cisco CEO John Chambers said that
the Internet of Everything will dwarf the
size of the current Internet within a few
years.
In a tech conference, Chambers said
there are 13 billion devices connected
today, a number that will grow to 50 bil-
lion by 2020 and 500 billion by 2030.
This will include lots of little chips, such
as those that could be planted
in farmland to track water and
fertilization levels. It will result in
$19 trillion in profits or cost sav-
ings in private and public sectors,
and will be 10 to 15 times bigger
than the Internet has been to date.
Chambers pointed out that Cisco
started focusing on the Internet of
Everything seven years ago. He
added that many old-style compa-
nies are re-inventing themselves as
technology companies specializing in a
particular market, such as how Walmart,
American Express and Allstate use tech
in their retail, insurance and financial
businesses.
