DSG organizes 232 training courses
The Dubai Smart Government (DSG) Department orga-
nized 232 training courses for 2,628 employees from 42
Dubai-based government entities throughout 2013. These
courses included workshops on corporate intelligence and
information security.
9 billion mobile phone subscribers
According to a report by the International Telecommuni-
cation Union (ITU), there are 9 billion mobile phone sub-
scribers in the world using hundreds of millions of smart
phones. There were only 700 million subscribers in 2000.
100 billion apps in 2013
100 billion mobile applications were downloaded in 2013
compared to 5 billion in 2005. Number of people who ac-
cess the Internet through smart devices is expected to
exceed those who use computers to go online.
3 billion apps in one month
According to Apple, consumers spent over $10 billion in
the iOS App Store in 2013, with $1 billion spent and near-
ly 3 billion apps downloaded in December alone.
$34 billion spent on digital gaming
According to a joint report by IHS and App Annie, mo-
bile game apps accounted for $16 billion in spending
in 2013, up 2.9 times from a year before. Spending
on digital gaming was $34 billion.
