30% increase in Android-based malware
The third quarter of 2013 has seen a rise in security threats on Android-
based devices, according to McAfee. The security firm has identified
around 700,000 samples of new signed malware which target Android
platform contributing to a 30% increase in Android-based malware.

The social networking website ‘Twitter’ came in second place gaining 52
percent; Google Plus came third with 46 percent, while LinkedIn reaped
6 percent of popularity.

According to a study conducted by the American magazine ‘Computer
World’, by 2017, the global social network audience will total 2.33 billion.

A study by the market research company ‘eMarketer’ showed that more
than 20 percent of the world’s population use the most popular social
networking websites such as Facebook, Google+ and Instagram at least
once in a month. Around 1.61 billion people use Facebook, Google+ and
Twitter websites twice a month making an increase of 14.2 percent com

pared to 2013. This rate is expected to rise more than 10 percent in 2014.
