Foreign patients can enter the UAE for treatment under the sponsorship of the medical establishment where they would be getting treatment. The entry permit of the patient’s companion can be extended only once after furnishing a duly certified medical report stating that his/her presence is needed in the UAE.
Foreigners can enter the UAE for treatment under the sponsorship of a medical establishment. The sponsor (medical establishment) takes the responsibility of processing entry permits for treatment upon the patient’s request.
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai grants a medical visa for single or multiple entries. The visa may be for 90 or 180 days.
Documents required
The following documents are needed to process the entry permit:
patient’s passport copy
medical report
a photo
a letter from the host/sponsor stating the justification for visit
health insurance.
Conditions
The sponsor must be a hospital licensed and registered in the UAE. A deposit for financial security should be made.
Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) provides a visa for treatment. ICP covers the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The visa may be for a single entry or multiple entries.
