Brief:
The international movement of pets, specifically dogs and cats, requires strict regulations to ensure animal welfare, public health, and the control of animal diseases. This consultation aims to review and recommend updates to the current ministerial decree governing the importation of dogs and cats.
Objectives:
- Evaluate current import regulations for dogs and cats, focusing on health, welfare, and procedural requirements.
- Propose amendments to align with international guidelines and enhance public and animal health protections.
Process:
Through getting feedback from partners that are related to the current decree by email and advertising it in the official website banner
Outcome
The results of the consultation showed the need to update the provisions of Resolution No. (109) of 2021 regarding the conditions for importing cats and dogs to enhance compliance with safety, health and management standards.
The recent amendments to Articles 6 and 7 of the Amendment to the Release Procedures for Shipments Not Meeting Import Conditions.
