This advice aims to monitor the awareness and observations of customers regarding the UAE Labour Law limiting working hours per day in the private sector to eight working hours, not exceeding 48 hours per week, and the normal working hours are reduced by two hours during the month of Ramadan. Whereas, Article 17 of Federal Decree-Law No. (33) of 2021 regarding the organization of labour relations "UAE Labour Law" specified working hours per day in the private sector to eight working hours per day, or 48 hours per week. The daily working hours may be increased or decreased for some economic sectors or some categories of employment, in addition to the working / rest times and the hours during which work is prohibited for certain categories of employment, according to the classification of employment that is specified in the executive regulations of the Decree-Law. The periods that the worker spends in commuting between his place of residence and the place of work are not counted among the working hours, except for some categories of workers according to the controls specified by the executive regulations of the decree-law. In cases where the worker works in other than a full-time job, it is not permitted for the original employer or another employer for whom the employee works to demand that the worker work for him more than the hours agreed upon in the employment contract, except with the written consent of the worker. In the event that the worker wishes to perform his work remotely, whether from inside or outside the country, and with the approval of the employer, the employer may stipulate specific working hours. It is also not permissible for the worker to work for more than 5 consecutive hours without a period or periods of rest that are not less than an hour in total, provided that these periods are not included in the calculation of working hours, and the working hours and rest periods are regulated in the establishment that operates on a shift system, or for some job categories according to their nature - such as field jobs - and according to the employment classification specified in the executive
regulations of the Decree-Law.
