With the constant development of sustainable food systems becoming a strategic global objective, several international organizations and governments from around the world are keenly intensifying their efforts to improve life patterns, health, nutrition, protect the environment; and preserve food resources and the nature for future generations. This can simply be achieved by encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy, nutritious, and vibrant vision while making their way to the future.
Recognizing the importance of such a forward-looking approach, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) have launched an awareness and engagement campaign themed "Food for Life", in cooperation with Emirates Nature-WWF and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
In addition to promoting healthy dietary patterns, and strengthening community health, the UAE's first-of-its-kind awareness campaign aims to encourage the adoption of sustainable food systems and strategies, preserve the environment and boost the national economy.
It also seeks to build a better, healthier future by educating and engaging with people about the impact that their food choices have on their health, and that of the planet. The campaign reaffirms the UAE's commitment to becoming one of the world's leading countries in this field.
From fostering an integrated culture that can guarantee a sustainable food future, to achieving social growth and development, the Food for Life campaign will support the functional performance and physical, mental, and social well-being of current and future generations at all stages of life. It will also enhance public awareness about the importance of addressing all forms of malnutrition and reducing the risk of diet-related non-communicable diseases, including obesity.
Furthermore, the campaign will contribute to preserving biodiversity and the environment and bolstering the role that sustainability plays in upgrading healthy diets. In addition, it will introduce individuals to the best food sources and most effective methods to be adopted when eating or using food to bring about real changes in living and dietary patterns, and minimize the effects that individuals can have on both health and environmental levels.
