Public Prosecution is one of the first entities of the Federal Government affiliated with the Ministry of Justice to have embarked on smart transformation and benefit from the benefits of the Information Technology industry as it already has:

1. An existing Informational Database

2. A strong relationship and partnership with various governmental organizations, especially during the period of its digital transformation

Moreover, the Public Prosecution supported the launch of a series of smart initiatives and projects, as evidenced by the declaration of Law No. 5 of 2017 on the use of remote communication technology in criminal proceedings.

The concept of smart prosecution, which is a modern term, has undoubtedly never been addressed by lawmen. However, smart prosecution can be defined as "altering the work of the Public Prosecution, provided by the laws or by administrative functions, from traditional paperwork to the use of electronic documents in accordance with integrated judicial and information systems, relying on the internet in order to expedite the verdict of cases, maintaining the quality of services.”

As per this definition,  the structure and elements of smart prosecution and its elements  and components can be clarified as follows: 

 

1.Judges and members of the public prosecution in criminal cases shall have the required expertise in the use of computers, electronic programs, and information and communication technology.

 

2.The presence of a functional cadre of IT professionals to supervise the quality of the work and programs used in the electronic Public Prosecution system.

3. The presence of a legislation that regulates the use of information technology by the Public Prosecution and within criminal trials from the filing of a complaint up until a verdict is reached.
