Every year on July 18, the United Arab Emirates celebrates Union Pledge Day, established by the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Recognized as the fourth national occasion-alongside National Day, Commemoration Day, and Flag Day-this day commemorates the historic July 18, 1971, meeting at which the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, together with his fellow Rulers of the Emirates, signed the Union document and drafted the constitution, marking the formal naming of the United Arab Emirates and setting the stage for the official declaration of the Union on December 2 of the same year.  

Union Pledge Day is more than a national occasion; it is a moment that fuels our determination and inspiration to pursue the journey of progress and prosperity. This day marks the establishment of a strong foundation for national unity and the deep cohesion of the Emirati people. What began as a vision for a unified nation has since evolved into a global model of development, prosperity, and social harmony. 

This day stands as a powerful symbol of loyalty and commitment to the values of the Union laid down by our founding fathers. It is an occasion to renew our pledge, reaffirming our collective efforts to maintain our national achievements and pursue the aspirations of our wise leadership to reinforce national unity and advance the UAE's standing on the international stage. On this day, we recall the historic milestones that shaped our nation and draw inspiration from the past to build on our accomplishments with unwavering determination. 

Union Pledge Day is an occasion to foster a sense of allegiance and belonging while renewing our pledge to make the UAE a model of unity and leadership. It is a time to reaffirm the responsibility entrusted to each generation to carry forward the message of the Union, drawing inspiration from the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed and his fellow founding fathers and embodying the spirit of generosity and dedication to advance national prosperity.
