The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) is committed to establishing the UAE as a regional and global model in the development of advanced healthcare systems. To that end, the ministry is accelerating its efforts to enhance the readiness of the health sector in key areas, with the foremost priority being organ and tissue donation and transplantation. 

Driven by the leadership's vision and directives to build a world-class health model with an Emirati identity, this sector has become a national priority, reflecting the country's strong commitment to saving lives and delivering high-quality, proactive, and sustainable healthcare. 

Since organ and tissue donation and transplantation are key pillars to ensuring therapeutic security for patients with organ failure, the National Centre for Organ Donation and Transplantation plays a vital role in saving lives. Working closely with local authorities and the private sector, the centre operates through a structured, institutional approach that prioritises governance, transparency, and fairness, helping hundreds of patients get the life-saving care they need.

To further enhance these efforts, the National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, 'Hayat' was launched as an innovative federal platform. The programme aims to streamline policies and procedures nationwide, improving the efficiency of the donation system while ensuring medical and ethical reliability. 

Powered by advanced digital infrastructure, it includes a central database for donors and recipients, along with an electronic system for organ distribution based on fairness and medical need, ensuring timely responses and offering hope to priority patients.

The programme is supported by precise performance indicators, including response time, the number of registered donors, and transplant success rates, which enhance the country's ability to measure health impacts and develop policies based on reliable data. It operates within an integrated legislative framework that ensures compliance while safeguarding the privacy and dignity of individuals.

Moving forward, the Ministry will continue to strengthen partnerships with local, regional, and international stakeholders, including reference hospitals and accredited transplant centres, while also promoting public awareness about the importance of organ donation. It will also intensify efforts to expand the network of services, promote long-term sustainability, and amplify the humanitarian impact of community solidarity by leveraging health resources to save patients' lives.
