Innovative projects and ideas in the "University Challenge"

The "University Challenge", organized by the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in cooperation with the Sharjah Government Communication Award, was launched on the sidelines of the International Government Communication Forum 2023.

In its second edition, 23 teams from 15 universities inside and outside the country participated in the "University Challenge",  where each team presented an idea, initiative, application, or project on activating the concept of sustainability in government communication coinciding with the Year of Sustainability 2023, and the jury includes a group of experts in government communication from inside and outside the country, and the three winning teams will be announced at the end of the activities of the International Government Communication Forum.    

During the first and second days, the teams participating in the challenge reviewed several innovative projects such as the "Nelsa" project of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan team, which aims to reduce the consumption of water wealth in agricultural programs and link it to a "farmer's assistant" robot that sends electronic alerts describing the condition of plants, whether they need more or less water, and the Zayed University project ( West MatCH) that links the government and private sectors for waste management, and the Higher Colleges of Technology In Abu Dhabi presented a project entitled "Underground Air" by creating a filter of rice husk to reduce the percentage of carbon in ground parking lots in public complexes, and for its part, the United Arab Emirates  University presented the "Save the Plane" project and the American University of Sharjah presented the "Lean & Green" project and others.

On the sidelines of the International Government Communication Forum, the United Arab Emirates University organized a panel discussion entitled "The Role of Media and Education in Sustainable Development", which addressed several themes related to the role of educational institutions and various media entities in contributing to achieving the sustainable development goals by 2030.
