The issuance of the new AED1000 banknote by the Central Bank of the UAE made of polymer, comes to keep pace with the great technological progress, and is in line with international best practices in security standards, and supported with advanced and innovative security features and characteristics

These characteristics included employing modern technologies to enhance consumers' confidence and combat counterfeiting, such as SPARK Flow® DIMENSIONS, which is used for the first time in banknotes circulated in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Furthermore, the UAE is the first country in the MENA region that issued the largest multi-coloured KINEGRAM® surface applied foil stripe in the new banknote issue

In addition to the distinct visual effects in terms of security and design, prominent Braille symbols have been added to help blind and visually impaired consumers identify the banknote's value

Recently, the CBUAE won the 'Best New Banknote' award for its new AED1000 banknote at the regional level for the year 2023. This was announced during the annual awards ceremony for Banknote and ID Document of the Year Awards, which was held on the sideline of the High Security Printing EMEA conference in Abu Dhabi
